The German government has announced that it has passed legislation that has effectively banned all private online casinos betting activities that take place with German citizens. The internet gambling and betting companies are prepared to fight back against the legislation blatantly defies EU trade policies that mandate the free flow of services between EU member states. The EU and European Commission have actively negotiated with the German government to address the discriminatory online casinos betting policies, but the latest legislation indicates that the German government is essentially thumbing its nose.
And as much as the Commission is prepared to pursue other means of enforcement, that process could take years to force the German states to ban the gambling monopolies, and in the mean time, the online casinos sites are prepared to fight the government through the German courts.
The new German legislation took place on the first of the year, and most in the online casinos gambling and betting industries are prepared to fight back against the blatantly unfair legislation that gives German states to offer internet betting options, but does not allow other EU companies access to the market. That just doesn’t sit well with the countries that do follow EU treaties and are allowing outside competition to affect the country’s online casino gambling and internet betting operations.
Negotiations with Germany have been ongoing and many in the German online casino and betting industry and many in the industry did not predict that Germany would defy the EU treaty that the country previously signed nearly 10 years ago.
