60 Minutes is Considering a Special on Internet Gambling

In light of last years cheating scandal at Absolute Poker the 60 Minutes New program is may very well dedicate an entire 60 minute show to the investigation and outcome of the what was one of the largest cheating scandals in the online casinos gambling industry to-date. Many of the top internet gambling information portals have reported that 60 Minutes has begun to interview professionals in the industry – and Nat Arem has also confirmed that the 60 Minutes team has approached the online casinos poker gambler for information on how Arem uncovered the cheating scandal.

The online casinos and poker gambling industries have been under attack in the United States over the past several years through legislation and laws restricting financial transactions with internet gambling companies. And the 60 Minutes exposé on the Absolute Poker cheating scandal will probably do little to positively reflect the online casinos gambling industry. In fact, the news program has a history of three other unflattering reports on the internet gambling industry over the seven years – so there is little indication that the program intends to lend much support to the ongoing battle by millions to legalize internet gambling in the U.S.

The possibility of the 60 Minutes show comes at a critical point in the U.S.’s fight to legalize and regulate the online casinos gambling industry. Tomorrow in fact a Congressional Hearing on internet gambling and the UIGEA will take place to discuss the current state of the activity in the U.S. As for how 60 Minutes plans to portray the Absolute Poker investigation, Arem noted in his blog that recounted his conversation with representatives from 60 Minutes, "In terms of agenda, I’ve been told that the goal is to “tell the story from soup to nuts.” I don’t really know if that means a negative agenda for online poker, but I get the feeling that it might.”

There is no way to really know until closer to when the exposé will air, but by all accounts it will probably not be a shining moment for the online casinos gambling industry.
