Poker Channel Goes Netherlands

The Poker Channel has announced that two networks will now carry its programming in The Netherlands following a restructuring of the company.

Over 550,000 subscribers to UPC’s basic digital package as well as members of KPN’s plain scheme will now be able to watch coverage of poker tournaments including the Irish Open 2008, the European Poker Masters and the Million Dollar Cash game.

The Poker Channel has expanded over the last year into Finland on Welho, Belgium on Coditel, Spain on Telefonica’s IPTV service and Imagenio along with Malta on Melita Cable to bring its total number of new homes to well over 15 million.

The firm’s restructuring sees it become a subsidiary of Gaming Media Group, which was formerly Poker Holdings, a British private company owned by management and two private investors. As a result, Commercial Director Chris White has been promoted and will now be responsible for all content, distribution and commercial areas in Europe while founder Crispin Nieboer has been made Chief Executive Officer of Gaming Media.
